Diablo 2 Resurrected: Best Ubers Builds to Torch Farm

The remastered endgame of Diablo 2 Resurrected offers no greater challenge than the Uber Tristram event. Three empowered versions of Andariel, Duriel, Lilith, Izual, and finally Uber Mephisto, Uber Baal, and Uber Diablo await. The reward is a Hellfire Torch, a unique grand charm that grants class skills, stats, and resistances. To farm Torches reliably, you need a specialized Ubers build. Two builds dominate this content: the Smite Paladin and the Kicksin Assassin.

The Smite Paladin is the traditional king of Ubers. Smite is a skill that never misses. It ignores enemy defense and blocking. It deals damage based on your shield. Stacking crushing blow reduces boss health by a percentage with each hit, melting even the three million health of Uber Baal. Lifetap curse keeps you alive. The strategy is simple. Smite the boss until dead. Cast lifetap when the curse expires. Keep your shield up. Collect Torch.

Gearing a Smite Paladin for Ubers is expensive but achievable. The runeword Grief in a phase blade provides ignore target defense and massive damage. The runeword Exile in an elite paladin shield offers lifetap aura and high defense. The unique helm Guillaume Face gives crushing blow. The unique belt Thundergods Vigor protects against Uber Mephisto lightning. The unique boots Goblin Toe add more crushing blow. The ring Raven Frost prevents being frozen. An Act 2 mercenary with Might aura provides bonus damage but usually dies early. Most players run Ubers without a mercenary.

Budget alternatives exist. The runeword Black in a flail offers crushing blow. The unique weapon Fleshripper provides crushing blow and open wounds. Ancient Pledge or Rhyme in a shield offers resistances. A life tap wand purchased from a vendor in town casts the crucial curse. Cast lifetap from the wand, switch back to your weapon, and smite. The fight is slower but viable. Many players farm their first Torch on a budget Smiter.

The Kicksin Assassin offers a faster, more technical alternative. Dragon Talon kick hits multiple times per second, each kick applying crushing blow and open wounds. The Assassin also has Burst of Speed for attack speed, Fade for resistances and damage reduction, and Cloak of Shadows to blind adds. Cloak of Shadows is particularly useful in Uber Tristram where minions can overwhelm the Smite Paladin single target focus.

Gearing a Kicksin requires different priorities. High strength allows you to wear heavy boots, as boot damage affects kick damage. The runeword Stormlash provides crushing blow and static field to reduce boss health. The unique helm Guillaume Face is still best. The unique armor Duress adds crushing blow and open wounds. The unique belt Verdungos Hearty Cord provides damage reduction. Boots with high damage like Gore Rider or upgraded Goblin Toe are essential. The Kicksin survives through Fade and careful positioning, not raw blocking like the Paladin.

Preparing for Ubers involves collecting keys. The Countess in Act 1 drops Terror Keys. The Summoner in Act 2 drops Hate Keys. Nihlathak in Act 5 drops Destruction Keys. You need three of each key to build one set of three portals. The portals lead to the mini Ubers. Defeating them drops body parts. Combine Mephisto Brain, Baal Eye, and Diablo Horn in Act 5 to open Uber Tristram. Single player players can farm keys easily. Online players trade keys or run them in groups.

Once inside Uber Tristram, isolate the bosses. Aggro Mephisto first. His level twenty conviction aura reduces your resistances by one hundred twenty five. Overstack resistances with Fade, Thundergods, and resist charms. Kill Mephisto alone. Baal second. His mana drain and freezing attacks annoy but do not threaten a well built character. Diablo last.
