All About Breachstones: How to Unlock and Use Them

Breachstones are a key element of the Breach mechanic in Path of Exile 2, essential for unlocking special endgame encounters and accessing powerful rewards.

What Are Breachstones?

Breachstones are crafted by collecting 300 Breach Splinters, which are fragments dropped by monsters within Breach encounters. Once you have 300 splinters, they combine automatically into one Breachstone.

How to Obtain Breach Splinters

You find Breach encounters randomly in maps marked with a Breach icon on the Atlas. Activating a Breach encounter starts a wave-based event where you defeat Breach monsters to keep the event active. During this, you'll encounter "Clasped Hands" which drop loot and Breach Splinters when you walk over them. Defeating enemies also yields splinters, so speed and efficiency help maximize rewards.

Using Breachstones

Once you have a Breachstone, you can use it at the Realmgate located next to The Ziggurat Refuge on the Atlas. Placing the Breachstone there will start an intense challenge inside the Twisted Domain, culminating in a fight against Xesht, the Breach pinnacle boss.

During the encounter, you must kill enemies quickly to keep the breach alive and expand the arena, collecting additional loot and rewards along the way. The challenge increases with more Breachstones and higher-tier versions, but the rewards—high-level gear, catalysts, currency, and rare crafting materials—are well worth the effort.

Strategic Tips

• Focus on clearing packs quickly to keep the breach open.

• Pick a smooth path (clockwise or counterclockwise) around the breach circle to avoid getting surrounded.

• Use movement skills frequently to reposition and avoid damage.

• If overwhelmed, kite enemies around before engaging in combat.

• Collect Clasped Hands to maximize loot and splinter gains.
